Jayne uses her new skills to save a life

A GOSFORTH resident who swiftly acted after finding her vulnerable and elderly neighbour unresponsive has been praised for her 'heroic' lifesaving actions.

The incident happened days after Jayne Davies attended a training session delivered by Frontline Medical and Training at Gosforth Residents Association Hut - where a new defibrillator was also installed following a successful community initiative project.

Jayne was one of several residents who eagerly volunteered to learn vital lifesaving skills on May 31. Just a week later, on June 6, she then put her new knowledge to the ultimate test after her neighbour had collapsed.

She said: "I attended the fully-booked training session bustling with local residents. It was an event made possible through the dedicated hard work and fundraising efforts of Cllr Doc Anand. It truly instilled a profound level of confidence in my own ability to help someone in need.

"Just a week later, on Friday June 6, my newly acquired knowledge was put to the ultimate test. I went to visit my elderly and vulnerable neighbour and found her collapsed and unresponsive at her home. I quickly put my new training into action, positioning her in the recovery position and using my skills to help intervene and save her life.
