Hotel guest who trashed room is fined over £500

A GUEST who “completely trashed” a Newcastle hotel room and left blood on the floors and walls claimed to have no memory of causing the carnage.

The Crowne Plaza, in the city centre, maintained Alexander Sweeney caused £3,000 worth of damage when he stayed in one of their rooms, although he claims it was a lot less.

A court heard that, when the manager entered the 32-year-old’s room, she found blood on the floors and walls, a picture smashed, glass all over the carpet, an air conditioning control unit ripped from the wall, a damaged light with the bulb taken out and the curtains pulled off their railings.
