'Happy' girl, six, suffers seizures almost every day

SIX-YEAR-OLD POPPY IS STILL SMILING DESPITE RARE CONDITION
SINCE New Year's Eve 2019, this “happy” and “positive” little girl has suffered a seizure almost every day.
Poppy Whinney was just 16 months old when she was diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome, a rare, severe and life-limiting form of epilepsy.
It's a condition which has meant six-year-old Poppy has been unable to live a normal childhood.
There's no trips to the park or soft play, and she hasn’t been able to attend school since February.
Poppy’s mum, Sarah Cartwright, said: “Unfortunately for Poppy, because she has seizures daily, she doesn’t get to go out and do the things that a typical six-year-old would be able to do, like go to the park or even go outside for fresh air, especially the way the heat has been.
“A lot of her time is spent in the home, which is quite isolating for her and everyone else”
The mum-of-two, from Winlaton, Gateshead, added: “I would love nothing more than to take her to the park and do normal activities with her, but we can’t even take her to soft play because it’s too busy and too much.
