Hair-raising scheme sees fundraising target being smashed

A healthcare worker has shaved her head to raise money for charity and will be wearing a different wig every day until it grows back.

Alison Heron has collected almost three times her target in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness Month after losing her locks. The 55-year-old, from North Shields, dressed in pink while her boss Zorah Parveen, 35, used a razor and shaving foam on her head.
Alison, a care supervisor with the Springfield Health, who have an office at St Peter's Wharf, Newcastle, set out to raise £500 for Breast Cancer Now but received more than £1,200 in donations on Just Giving.
