Finish date for market revamp slips into 2026

A MAJOR revamp of Newcastle's historic Grainger Market will now take until next year to complete.
Council bosses have confirmed that they expect the £9m overhaul of the city centre market to be finished in early 2026.
The Georgian market is undergoing a series of upgrades that it is hoped will put it among the best of its kind in Europe.
The project includes new flooring, toilets, doors, seating, and signage, as well as a dramatic redesign of the market arcade that could allow it to stage music gigs, plays, fashion shows and other events.
Originally, it was hoped that the redevelopment would be finished this summer.
