Family home destroyed after blaze breaks out

A DEVASTATING fire has hit a family home in South Tyneside.

Several neighbours had to be evacuated on Spencer Street in Hebburn after the incident was reported just before 8pm on Monday.

The Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, North East Ambulance Service and Northumbria Police were all in attendance. Photos show the blackened outside walls and smashed windows of the property, with the guttering also hanging down from the roof.

One patient was treated at the scene by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment. Police confirmed officers were at the scene in order to assist with crowd control.
