'Every day is a struggle' - abuse victim

WOMAN LEFT TRAUMATISED AFTER SHOCKING ATTACKS

A DOMESTIC abuse victim has told how she has been left traumatised as her former partner was jailed. Lee Ellis strangled and assaulted the mother of his children in two separate attacks.

On October 28 last year, they had been arguing when he turned violent. Jennifer Coxon, prosecuting, told Newcastle Crown Court: “He pulled her into a bedroom and pinned her down by her neck, applying so much pressure she thought she would suffocate.”

He put his hand over her mouth and tried to snap her fingers, damaging her nails. The woman fought him off by biting his hand and he ran out of the room.

She was left with reddening to her neck and a snapped nail. She didn’t contact police at that time but took photographs of her injuries.
