SHOLA Ameobi believes that Newcastle United learned some valuable Champions League lessons in 2023 - and that education for Eddie Howe and his staff is now shining through.
United return to the impressive BayArena tonight, with Ameobi desperate to see his beloved Magpies pull off a win like the 3-1 triumph back in 2003 when he bagged a brace against the Bundesliga side.
Victory over Bayer Leverkusen, who won 2-0 at Manchester City on the previous Champions League match day, would give Newcastle a major chance of an automatic pass to the last 16.
For Ameobi, who is also a club ambassador these days on overseas trips, it is part of the natural journey to the top.
