Eagles have a mountain to climb in Europe

NEWCASTLE Eagles suffered a seventh successive defeat as they went down to Iraklis in Greece.

Eagles' second consecutive defeat in the European North Basketball League leaves Marc Steutel and his team a mountain to climb for the rest of the European campaign if they are to qualify for the playoff stages - and they face a quick return against Iraklis, who visit Newcastle on Wednesday, December 3.

Before then Newcastle have three Super League games to play to try and get back to winning ways and they regroup and reset to get their season back on the rails.

In a familiar pattern, Newcastle were in this game for long periods and tested a home side playing in front of their own fanatical fans. Indeed, going into the final quarter Steutel's charges were only six points down and had everything to play for.
