Dubravka starts new a chapter with the Clarets

NEWCASTLE United have said an emotional farewell to Martin Dubravka after a seven-year spell at the club.

The Slovakian international signed a new contract at St James' Park in January, but was unhappy at the prospect of being number 3 and cancelled plans to join the squad in South Korea once it became obvious that a deal for Aaron Ramsdale was being pushed through.

A United statement read: “After seven-and-a-half years on Tyneside, Martin Dubravka has left the club, joining Burnley on a permanent transfer. Thank you for everything. We wish you the very best of luck for the future.”

It means a transfer fee will be due to Newcastle as Burnley, ironically, replace the man that the Magpies tried to sign in James Trafford with one of United's best goalies.
