Businesses raise £910 for life-saving device
The Chronicle
|July 28, 2025
RESIDENTS and businesses in a Newcastle suburb have raised hundreds of pounds to purchase and fit a defibrillator in the heart of their community.
The Spitler Community Centre in Spital Tongues has worked with several local businesses to bring the lifesaving device to the area just to the west of Newcastle city centre.
It has been installed outside Little Nino's, an award-winning Italian cafe which is seen as a hub for the community.
DEFIBRILLATOR SPEEDS UP CRITICAL RESPONSE TIMES
Previously, the closest defibrillators to Spital Tongues were on Claremont Road and in the Newcastle University campus.
