ADAM BALL IS GEARING UP FOR A SEVEN AND-A-HALF HOUR SWIM TO CELEBRATE HIS MILESTONE BIRTHDAY
WHEN Adam Ball was born with Cystic Fibrosis his parents were told it was unlikely their son would reach his 30th birthday. But after celebrating the milestone in January this year Adam, from South Shields, has continued to defy the odds.
And this weekend he is set to complete a challenge that no other person with his condition is believed to have achieved before, as he braves a seven-and-a-half hour swim to complete his mission to swim across all 13 publicly accessible lakes in the Lake District.
It's a challenge which has allowed him to raise a total of just over £16,000 for Cystic Fibrosis Trust which has supported him throughout his life. As well as massively exceeding his original £1,000 fundraising target, he has also become an inspiration for families of those living with the genetic condition, which causes sticky mucus to build up in the lungs and digestive system and affects more than 11,000 people in the UK.
