'A real low act': football club's defibrillator taken

On Monday morning, police received a call from Newcastle Blue Star FC, which is based on Denton Road, about the theft.

The club said: “Overnight someone has broken into the ground and stolen our defibrillator, a vital piece of life-saving equipment.

“Following health scares to Reidy [player Sean Reid] & Scotty [physio Graeme Scott] this year, we know how important such equipment can be. Tonight we'll be hosting one of our junior open sessions, and will have no defib should such an incident occur.

“If anyone or any local club is offered a defib on the quiet, please let us know so we can check the serial number.
