TWENTY-FOUR men have made their first appearance in court after suspected violent disorder at the home of John Henry Sayers.

- By SARA NICHOL

The dad was said to be at home with his children when the disturbance happened at around 4.20pm on June 16, 2022.

Police were told that several windows and parked vehicles at the property, on the Fossway in Byker, Newcastle, had been damaged.

A total of 65 people were arrested, with 25 subsequently being charged.

Of those charged, 24 of them appeared at Newcastle Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, August 6.

All faced one count of conspiracy to commit violent disorder.

The charge read: “Between June 13, 2022 and June 17, 2022, at the North East of England, you conspired together with others to use or threaten unlawful violence when present together with others, being three or more persons in total, and the use or threat of unlawful violence and the conduct that may take place, when taken together, would have been such as would cause a person of reasonable firmness, present at the scene, to fear for his or her personal safety.”
