Village celebrates as 17th-Century building reopens
The Chester Chronicle
|May 15, 2025
THE village of Tarporley came together to celebrate a historic moment as the Done Room, a treasured community building dating back to 1636, officially reopened following a major renovation project.
The celebration began with a service of thanksgiving at St Helen's Church, the neighbouring parish church that has shared its grounds with the Done Room for nearly four centuries.
The service gave thanks for the generous support of the community and key funding partners who made the extensive restoration possible.
Following the service, The Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire, Lady Alexis Redmond, and Sir Phil Redmond performed the official opening ceremony, unveiling the newly restored Done Room to local residents, supporters and guests.
