First City Monument Bank (FCMB) reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment and educational advancement with the grand finale of its National Essay and Drawing Competition, held to commemorate Children's Day on May 27, 2025.
-
The annual event, designed exclusively for holders of the FCMB Kids Account, served as a platform to celebrate the literary and artistic talents of Nigerian children between the ages of 3 and 17.
At the heart of the celebration was the recognition of nine outstanding young minds who were awarded scholarships worth up to 1.5 million. An additional 72 finalists were rewarded with 50,000 each and a collection of FCMB-branded souvenirs as consolation prizes.
The essay competition for students aged 13 to 17 posed a thought-provoking question: “How will you manage and utilise a birthday gift of 1 million responsibly?” Ogbu Ikechukwu, a student from Nsukka, Enugu State, emerged the overall winner, earning a 1.5 million scholarship for his insightful response. The first and second runners-up were awarded 1 million and 750,000 respectively.
