Speaking to reporters on June 9, 2025, Trump responded cautiously when asked directly about Musk: "I really don't know. I don't think so. I hope not."
These comments come in the wake of a late-May New York Times report that cited unnamed sources claiming Musk had used ketamine, ecstasy, and psychedelic mushrooms during the 2024 campaign season. While the report did not confirm whether any of the alleged drug use occurred on federal property or during official government duties, it has sparked significant public interest and concern, especially given Musk's prominent role in Trump's administration.
