The bench comprising of Chief Justice of India, CJI Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar and Justice KV Viswanathan was hearing the present matter.
The Supreme Court in the case Extra Judicial Execution Victim And Anr Versus Union Of India And Ors observed and has allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI's petition to release Datla Sreenivasa Varma from the position as the head of the SIT formed to probe into Manipur's extra-judicial killings.
The bench comprising of Chief Justice of India, CJI Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar and Justice KV Viswanathan was hearing the present matter.
The bench in the case was hearing the issue of alleged extra-judicial killings in Manipur by armed forces.
The bench in the case allowed the application filed by the CBI to relieve Datla Sreenivasa Varma, Joint Director and HOZ, NE Zone as the in-charge of the SIT constituted to investigate the alleged illegal killings.
