Supreme Court: Permanent alimony should not penalise husband but should ensure decent living for wife

The bench comprising of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Prasanna B. Varale was hearing the present matter.

The bench in the case stressed the father's obligation to maintain and care for his child.

The bench directed the husband to make a provision of Rs. 1 Crore for his major son's maintenance and financial security.

In the present case, the appellant i.e., husband and the respondent i.e., wife lived separately for about two decades after six years of marriage.

It has been alleged by the husband that the wife was hypersensitive and treated his family indifferently.

On the other hand, the wife alleged that the behaviour of husband was not good towards her.
