Sitharaman to take charge again of Minister of Finance, Corp Affairs

Nirmala Sitharaman is all set to take on the mantle N of India's Finance Minister, the second time in a row since she first stepped into the role in 2019, making her mark as the first full-time woman Finance Minister of the country in 2019.
She has also held the positions of Defence Minister and Industry and Commerce Minister. "Grateful to Hon PM @narendramodi ji for giving me the opportunity to serve under his leadership. We shall fulfil the vision of Viksit Bharat with his guidance," Sitharaman said taking to X after the Minister was administered the Oath of Office and Secrecy by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhawan on 9th @ rashtrapatibhvn

The Minister noted that the island nation's fossil fuel imports consume 13.5 per cent of GDP, while fuel subsidies exceed USD 150 million annually.\"Being a very small and low-lying island state, our vulnerabilities are pronounced. Heavy dependence on imported fuel and high infrastructure costs make the transition urgent but also complex,\" the Minister explained.
