Post-rain relief: Mumbai's AQI improves

Following persistent poor air quality, Mumbai witnessed a refreshing change with the air quality index (AQI) reaching the ‘good’ category after unseasonal rains on Monday.

Nine monitoring stations of the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR) reported an overall AQI of 47, marking levels not seen since the early end of the monsoon. Out of the 30 air monitoring stations, 23 by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recorded the 24-hour AQI at 59, categorizing it as ‘satisfactory.’ PM2.5, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen dioxide were identified as the primary pollutants.
