PM Modi Skips Sikkim Visit Due To Bad Weather, Addresses Event Virtually

PM Narendra Modi virtually addressed Sikkim's 50th statehood anniversary celebrations on May 29, unveiling key development projects after weather conditions prevented his visit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to visit Gangtok on Thursday, May 29, to participate in the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of Sikkim's statehood. However, due to inclement weather, he was unable to travel to the state and instead addressed the people of Sikkim via video conference from Bagdogra, West Bengal.
The commemorative event, titled "Sikkim@50: Where Progress Meets Purpose and Nature Nurtures Growth," was organised to celebrate five decades since Sikkim became a part of the Indian Union in 1975. In his virtual address, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the Centre's commitment to supporting the state's development while preserving its natural beauty and cultural heritage.
