Jammu to host 50,000 pilgrims for Amarnath Yatra

The Jammu and Kashmir administration has made elaborate arrangements to accommodate over 50,000 Amarnath Yatra pilgrims across 106 lodgement centres in the Jammu region, ensuring a smooth and comfortable pilgrimage to the revered cave shrine in South Kashmir Himalayas, officials said on Thursday.
The 38-day-long pilgrimage to the 3,880-metre-high Amarnath cave will commence on July 3 via the twin routes — the 48-km traditional Pahalgam track in Anantnag and the shorter, steeper 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal. The first batch of pilgrims is scheduled to depart from the Jammu-based Bhagwati Nagar base camp on July 2, a day before the Yatra begins in Kashmir.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will flag off the convoy amid tight security.
