The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) has shown a significant turnaround, surpassing its road construction target by 106% during the first quarter of the fiscal year. Data from the National Statistical Office (NSO) reported that 6,403 kilometers of roads were constructed against a targeted 6,000 kilometers. This marks a substantial improvement as the scheme has missed its targets during the April-June period since the fiscal year 2016. In contrast, PMGSY had previously achieved its target by 206% in the first quarter of 2015 when 10,726 kilometers of roads were constructed against a target of 5,200 kilometers.
