India's Financial Inclusion Index Rises to 67: RBI
The Business Guardian
|July 23, 2025
India continues to make significant strides in enhancing financial inclusion, as evidenced by the latest Financial Inclusion Index (FI-Index) released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

The FI-Index for the financial year ending March 2025 has reached a score of 67.0, marking a notable increase from 64.2 recorded in March 2024.
This improvement reflects the growing accessibility, deeper usage, and improved quality of financial services available to citizens across the country.
The FI-Index serves as a comprehensive measure to evaluate the extent of financial inclusion across India.
It incorporates a broad range of indicators to capture how well the population is connected to formal financial systems.
The increase in the index signifies that more individuals are not only gaining access to essential financial services but are also using them effectively and benefiting from better service quality.
According to the RBI, the improvement observed in the 2025 index is driven mainly by enhancements in the "Usage" and "Quality" sub-indices.
