IHG hotels & resorts to double down on India, 100 new hotels in 5 years

THG Hotels & Resorts, a leading hospitality major, has announced ambitious plans to double its presence in India over the next five years, aiming to operate a total of 100 hotels in the country.

This strategic expansion comes on the heels of a robust performance in 2023, during which IHG closed 13 deals across its luxury, premium, and essentials categories. The company's focus on midscale and upper midscale segments reflects its commitment to catering to diverse market demands.
In addition to strengthening its footprint in key markets like Gurgaon, Jim Corbett, Mumbai, Amritsar, and Goa, IHG aims to introduce more luxury brands such as Regent and Kimpton to the Indian market.
Haitham Mattar, Managing Director of IHG for India, Middle East, and Africa, highlighted the group's optimistic outlook, citing higher occupancies in IHG properties in India during the first quarter of 2022 compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
