Delhi's old excise policy likely to extend

Delhi's previous excise regime, which went into effect on September 1 of last year, is likely to be prolonged. The current policy will end on September 30.

According to the sources, the Delhi administration has not yet made the new policy official. After Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena urged a CBI investigation into suspected irregularities in its execution in July 2022, the administration abandoned its new excise policy and went back to its previous one. On September 1, 2022, the current excise policy went into effect as a temporary measure while the Delhi government developed and implemented a new policy.This policy was scheduled to expire on March 31 but the Delhi government extended it for six months until September 30.
