Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Tuesday stressed the need for coordinated and time-bound execution of the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) programme of the Union Government, aimed at expanding mobile network and 4G connectivity in shadow areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
Chairing a high-level meeting to review the status of mobile tower installations and network coverage across uncovered areas, Dulloo directed both Divisional Commissioners to take weekly reviews of the progress at each identified site and ensure close monitoring of tower construction, electricity provisioning, and land-related issues so that all towers become operational at the earliest.
The Chief Secretary also reviewed the status of NoCs from the Forest Department for tower erection and electricity network laying, directing for early resolution through interdepartmental coordination. He instructed the Information Technology Department to act as the nodal agency for the programme, ensuring seamless coordination among stakeholder departments and timely removal of operational hurdles.
