Core sector grows 6.7% in Feb'24 on strong coal, cement production

The output of India’s eight core sectors measured by the Index of eight core industries (ICI) increased by 6.7 per cent in February 2024 as compared to the Index of February 2023 with the production of coal, natural gas, cement, steel, crude oil, electricity and refinery products recording positive growth in February 2024, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said on Thursday.

The core sector growth improved to a three-month high according to the ICI index which measures the combined and individual performance of production of eight core industries -- cement, coal, crude oil, electricity, fertilisers, natural gas, refinery products and steel.
