The Constitution (One Hundred and Thirtieth Amendment) Bill, 2025; the Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2025; and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2025 were referred to the Joint Committee of Parliament after Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced them in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
Before the Lok Sabha was adjourned till 5 pm, Speaker Om Birla objected to the behavior of opposition members. The Speaker said members should not lower the dignity of the House. Opposition members had earlier objected to the introduction of three bills,
The bill was referred to a Joint Committee of the Houses consisting of 21 Members of the Lok Sabha to be nominated by the Speaker and 10 Members of the Rajya Sabha to be nominated by the Deputy Chairman. Earlier in the day, opposition MPs tore and threw copies of the three Bills towards Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the Lok Sabha, which seek to remove the Prime Minister or Chief Ministers who are facing allegations of corruption or serious offenses and have been detained for 30 consecutive days.
