Commerce Ministry Seeking Enhanced Bandwidth for Free Trade Negotiations

The senior official of the commerce ministry mentioned that as several countries are approaching India for bilateral free trade agreements (FTAs) to enhance economic ties, the ministry is seeking ways to expand its capacity to handle these time-consuming and resource-intensive negotiations. Currently, officials from the commerce ministry are engaged in negotiations for several FTAs with countries such as the UK, Canada, and the European Union.

“We aim to increase the capacity within the commerce department as negotiations consume a considerable amount of time, energy, and human resources,” stated the government official.
