The peak power demand in Delhi touched 5,462 megawatts at 3:27 pm on Wednesday, the highest ever in the first nine days of April, officials said. This was a sharp rise from Tuesday's peak of 5,029 megawatts (MW).

The city's all-time highest power demand was 8,656 MW, recorded in June 2024. This summer, the peak load in Delhi is projected to reach 9000 MW.

Power distribution company BSES recently said that it was fully prepared to meet the escalating demand and has made extensive arrangements to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to nearly two crore residents across the city.

According to the State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC), yesterday, Delhi's peak power demand was 5029 MW. On their part, BSES discom's successfully met the peak power demand in their respective areas.
