In a recent political spat, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has responded robustly to criticisms from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav. The clash between the two leaders has intensified after Yadav criticized Sarma's decision to abolish the two-hour break for Jumma prayers in the Assam assembly. Sarma's retort was firm and direct: "Our work will not stop based on the comments of people. Our work is to keep going forward."
Tejashwi Yadav, former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, had previously lashed out at Sarma, accusing him of pursuing "cheap popularity" and making headlines through controversial decisions. Yadav alleged that Sarma's move to end the Jumma prayer break was a calculated attempt to garner media attention and criticized him for allegedly targeting the Muslim community. Yadav compared Sarma's actions to those of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who is known for his hardline stance on various issues, and described Sarma as a "Chinese version of Yogi."
