The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has deferred to January 2 next year its plan to impound e-bikes and e-trikes caught on national highways and major thoroughfares, opting first to launch an information drive to educate owners and riders on the proper use of light electric vehicles.

- By AARON RECUENCO

LTO chief, Assistant Secretary Markus Lakanilao said the move follows President Marcos' directive to prioritize public awareness on areas where e-bikes and e-trikes are prohibited.

“Our enforcers and personnel will be on the roads for the information drive, to explain to the owners and riders the proper use of e-bikes,” Lacanilao said in a video statement.
