Amid an ongoing investigation into alleged anomalies in flood control projects—including reports of corruption, ghost projects, and irregular contracts—Akbayan Party list Rep. Chel Diokno has filed a resolution directing the House of Representatives' secretary general to make lawmakers' statements of assets, liabilities, and net worth (SALNs) accessible to the public.
Diokno, along with fellow Akbayan Reform Bloc members Reps. Percival Cendaña, Dadah Kiram Ismula, and Dinagat Islands Rep. Kaka Bag-ao, filed House Resolution No. 271 to promote transparency and accountability in government.
“The Constitution is clear: public office is a public trust. If we truly want to weed out corruption, lawmakers must first open themselves to scrutiny,” Diokno said in a statement.
