18-year-old dies after falling into Pasig River while fleeing pursuers

An 18-year-old man, who was allegedly fleeing from several men aboard a red vehicle, died after falling into the Pasig River in Barangay 286, Binondo, Manila.

Barangay Kagawad Hamid Salambat said the incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on Monday night, Jan. 5, following a disturbance behind the barangay outpost.

Barangay officials received a report that a person had fallen into the river and failed to resurface.

Salambat, together with the barangay tanod, immediately checked the area but was unable to locate the individual.
