'A difficult pill to swallow' says goalscorer Bennett

DANIEL Bennett left Wembley’s FA Vase final on Sunday with a moment to cherish - a goal - and a sense of pride and gratitude.

Bennett and the new-look AFC Whyteleafe - formed in 2021 - fought through nine games as the competition was whittled down from 600+ teams to the final two at the national stadium.

“It's proud moment for all of us,” said the 36-year-old. “It's a difficult pill to swallow - if I'm honest, the hardest I've had to swallow in my career.

“But when we digest this we will be proud. We put on a performance for our fans and our community.”
