Christmas is coming - there, we've said it - but don't start present shopping just yet

After all, today is Buy Nothing Dayan annual, international day of protest against consumerism, observed in the UK on the last Saturday of November. (It can be no coincidence that today also marks the discount-fest that is Black Friday).
Founded in the early 1990s by the Canadian magazine Adbusters, the campaign encourages people to pause, challenge the pressures of over-consumption, and rethink their relationship with buying, owning, and waste.
