'I've never seen a dog of his age quite so little and thin' – but Dennis got his happy ending
Sunderland Echo
|December 06, 2025
An adorable disabled pup who was found cruelly dumped in a bin weighing just the same as a bag of sugar has been rehomed in time for Christmas after being rescued.
-
Dennis when first rescued, left, and on his road to recovery.
Little Dennis, who is deaf and half-blind, was discovered abandoned among a pile of rubbish on the brink of death before being rushed to a vets in Didcot, Oxfordshire.
The tiny six-week-old was also suffering painful cuts, weighed just 1.75 kg and was growing weaker by the minute when he was taken into the care of the Blue Cross's rescue centre in Burford.
The terrier underwent urgent treatment, including antiseptic ointment for his wounds, but remained unsteady and wobbly on his feet until staff could build up his strength.
He was placed into foster care where he continued to make a remarkable recovery before finding a loving home in Derbyshire in time for his first Christmas with new owners.
