'Digital workers' speed up access to health care

A pioneering project which uses custom-built 'digital workers' to automate hospital admin systems is helping to speed up access to care for people in Sunderland and South Tyneside.
South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust-which runs Sunderland Royal Hospital and South Tyneside District Hospital - are using Robotic Process Automation (RPA) 'software robots' to handle GP referrals.
The software-dubbed 'digital workers' by staff-automates repetitive, digital tasks which have previously taken people lots of time.
