Castle Eden storm to a home victory against basement side Sunderland

Castle Eden moved up to third place in the Dukes ECB North East Premier League after they convincingly beat Sunderland by 163 runs.
Castle were put in to bat by the visitors, and were all out for 267, after 41.5 overs. John Spellman (30), Mandeep Singh (55), JP Meade (83) and Lewis Simpson (40) helped them on their way, Kamran Said taking 3-48.
In reply, Sunderland slumped to defeat, all out for 104 after just 26 overs. Peter Roddam was their only scorer of note with 35 not out. The wickets were taken by Jonathan Malkin (3-18) and Singh (3-43).
The game at Newcastle was abandoned due to rain. Visiting Burnmoor were asked to bat first, and were 383-5 after their 45 overs. Ross Greenwell opened the batting with 41, Marcus Brown added 53, Allan Worthy 78, and Ryan Pringle a brilliant 151 from 79 balls.
Newcastle were 94-2 after 13.4 overs, when rain stopped play. Christopher Youldon was their best with 33 not out.
