The chair of the Sunderland branch of the Royal British Legion has hit out after the charity was targeted by thieves and vandals.

Vince Harris, who also coordinates the city's poppy appeal in the buildup to Armistice Day, was left shocked when he arrived at the charity's branch headquarters only to find it had been broken into.
He said: "They took the till, even though it didn't have much money in it, as well as an electric push bike.
"They also took a number of instruments which we use to put on music nights to help raise vital funds.
