White: My battle with ADHD

The six-time World Championship finalist has entertained legions of sports fans and cemented his status as a great - even if the 62-year-old is no longer challenging for titles.

White last week failed again to qualify for The Crucible he last appeared at the Worlds in 2006-but feels his potting and striking remain top-drawer, especially since he received a shock ADHD diagnosis.

"Well, I think in the 90s, I was a bit of a party person," said White, who is part of TNT Sports' snooker punditry team.

"I didn't practise and I got beat in the last final in '94, and it was sort of from then on that I was mainly on the road doing shows. Not practising.

"In the past two years, I got diagnosed with ADHD. Sufferers think 10 things at once.

"Now I've got it sorted I'm more on a normal playing field, concentration-wise. And, all of a sudden, my game has come on in leaps and bounds.
