'Story of our season' - Morrison
Sunday Mercury
|April 27, 2025
INTERIM West Brom boss James Morrison, in charge for the first time after Tony Mowbray was sacked on Monday, cut a frustrated figure after the goalless draw at now-relegated Cardiff.
-
The stalemate at the Cardiff City Stadium finally ended goal-shy Albion’s wafer-thin play-off hopes.
Just one win in their last six league games has seen the Baggies slip away into mid-table mediocrity after at one-time looking a sure bet to finish in the top six.
"I was pleased with the backline who defended well and put their bodies on the lines,” said Morrison.
"But I'm frustrated with that last bit. Feels that’s the story of our season.
“I asked them to take that anger and frustration of the week into the game and I could sense that.”
However, it was a worse afternoon for another interim manager with Aaron Ramsey left “gutted” over Cardiff's relegation from the Championship as the “miracle ending” he craved at his boyhood club turned to disaster.
