NEW MUM'S NIGHTMARE OF RAT-INFESTED HOME

Couple call for help amid fears for their newborn daughter's safety

A NEW mum says she is living a nightmare in a rat-infested house with her baby.

Jadine Augustine, 22, bought the end-terraced home in Rubery, Birmingham, at a knocked-down price of £172,500but was unaware of the pest problem inside.

And she says she has gone from finding dead rats 'everywhere' while pregnant to her six-week-old baby now being awoken by scuttling vermin overhead.

Jadine and her partner thought they had found a bargain when they bought their home after the price was reduced by almost £20,000 from £190k.

The terrace seemed like the perfect place to start a family but after months of hopeless struggle to eradicate the problem, Jadine believes it was flogged off cheaply because of its ongoing rat issue.

As the couple began renovating, they claimed to have found rat droppings and traps beneath the floorboards and they have spent close to £1,000 on traps, bait, pest control and new loft insulation.
