Eight years for 33-year-old in first UK prosecution of its kind

A BIRMINGHAM man who converted black-firing guns into real ones has been jailed in the first prosecution of its kind in the UK.

Banaras Malang, aged 33, was trying to convert nine blank-firing guns into deadly firearms at his Tyseley home.

He had gone to “great lengths” to cover his tracks, including using fake names and taking advantage of a vulnerable man to order equipment.

However Malang, of Wandle Grove, was rumbled over the plan and has now been jailed for eight years for possessing the weapons.
