Harriers miss out on title in a cruel finale

KIDDERMINSTER Harriers suffered final day heartache as they missed out on the National League North title following their 2-1 defeat at Southport.

Phil Brown's side went into the final weekend level on points with title rivals Brackley Town but with a better goal difference.

While Brackley romped to a 5-0 win at home to ten-man Farsley Celtic, Harriers needed to win to pip them to the title and goals either side of half-time from Tom Moore and Danny Philliskirk proved too much of a mountain to climb.

Defender Reiss McNally did pull one back but it was not enough to stop his side from slipping to third behind Scunthorpe United. Harriers will face Chester or Buxton in the play-off semi-final next Sunday.
