Magical Forrest conjures up a blockbuster finish on final day

- FRASER WILSON

HOLLYWOOD screenwriters could hardly have written a more dramatic ending.

A day that started with James Forrest carrying the silverware onto the big stage ended with him front and centre as the credits began to roll on another victorious Premiership campaign.

Not that the Parkhead veteran has ever been one to hog the limelight.

But Forrest couldn't escape it as his 94th-minute equaliser not only saved the title party, it also ensured his remarkable run of scoring in every one of the last 16 seasons continues with it.

Time seemed to pause as Alistair Johnston took a touch and rolled it wide into the winger's path with the clock almost showing time up.

Parkhead held its breath.. then erupted like he'd just netted a Champions League winner.

The 33-year-old might not crave the attention.

But even he admits he was bowled over by the emotion as he finally got the goal every Hoops fan had been willing him to score for months.

He said: "Aye, it was a release for me. In the last month especially, anywhere I went I'd meet somebody and they wouldn't be talking about winning a league or winning a cup, it'd be like, 'Oh, make sure you get the goal.'

"And with the players and the staff, with the fans, it was what everybody was wanting.

"I felt pretty chilled about it but then I'm just glad that I have done it for everyone. It was unbelievable.
