Winning is in McGregor's DNA and he's hungrier than ever for trophies

YOU wouldn't think it the way Callum McGregor keeps hoovering up trophies for Celtic.

- BY SCOTT MCDERMOTT

But last night the Hoops skipper revealed the one thing that drives him on. Fear.

The fear of not getting to feel what he felt at Tannadice yesterday as Celtic clinched yet another title.

The fear of not getting to celebrate more silverware success with his mates. Basically, the fear of not being a top footballer any more.

At 31, McGregor still has plenty left in the tank at Parkhead. And his insatiable appetite for honours still looks as ravenous as ever.

But after securing an incredible 24th trophy - and his 10th title - the Celtic midfielder admits he's scared of the day it will all be over.

That's why, despite being around the first team for over a decade, he was the one instigating the celebrations at full-time yesterday.

He was the one urging the rookie winners in Rodgers' squad to savour every second of it.

McGregor says he'll never tire of lapping up success at Celtic. And it's the fear of not having it that keeps him going season after season. As he reflected on four-in-a-row and the club's 13th title in 14 years, the captain said: “You have to make the most of it. You never know when the last one might be.

“I guarantee you in 10 or 15 years time, when you don't have that in your life, you'll miss it. So you have to enjoy it as much as you can. You dedicate a huge portion of your life to being a footballer.
