Frankfurt memory gives Milne confidence

- BY SCOTT BURNS

JACK MILNE is adamant Aberdeen can defy the odds and make it to the Conference League knockout stages.

The Scottish Cup winners have been handed tough home matches against Shakhtar Donetsk, Noah and Strasbourg while they face trips to AEK Athens, Larnaca and Sparta Prague.

Milne is one of the Dons players who has previous experience at this level under former boss Barry Robson.

He was part of a team two years ago that beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 at home in the Conference League. And it’s results like that which give him confidence that Aberdeen can be competitive this time.

They crashed out in the Europa League playoffs last week, losing 5-2 on aggregate to Romanian side FCSB.

And Milne said: “Of course, we had our sights on the Europa League. But welll fancy ourselves to get through our Conference group. We'll give it 100 per cent.
